Andy Warhol was a tireless chronicler of life and its encounters. Always accompanied by a Polaroid camera, from the late 1950s until his death in 1987 he amassed a huge collection of snapshots of friends, lovers, patrons, celebrities and strangers, as well as landscapes, everything that was in fashion, and himself. Created in collaboration with the Foundation Andy Warhol, this book presents more than 150 of these spontaneous images.
It includes portraits of celebrities such as Mick Jagger, Alfred Hitchcock, Jack Nicholson, Yves Saint Laurent, Pelé and Debbie Harry alongside images of Warhol’s circle, his luxurious life and landscapes, as well as still lifes of Cabbage Patch dolls and his iconic soup cans. Often simple and improvised, the Polaroids document Warhol’s era just as Instagram tells the story of ours today. A unique testament to the life, world and vision of the master of pop art and modernity.
